A starry cast has signed on for the 2009 “Broadway Backwards” concert, featuring singers performing well-known musical theater songs written for the opposite sex. The event, which benefits the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, will be held on February 9 at Broadway’s American Airlines Theatre, directed by Robert Bartley, with Musical Direction by Paul Staroba.
Starring in this year’s gender-reversed extravaganza will be Sandra Bernhard, Mario Cantone, Len Cariou, Alan Cumming, Gina Gershon, Whoopi Goldberg, Florence Henderson, Cheyenne Jackson, Aaron Lazar, Maureen McGovern, Sally Mayes, Rue McClanahan, Becki Newton, Ron Palillo, Kate Reinders, Jai Rodriguez, Christopher Sieber, John Tartaglia, Marty Thomas, Michael Urie and Tony Yazbeck.
