Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch

1 WIN:
Best Featured Actress in a Play - Kara Young


Leslie Odom Jr. leads the first Broadway revival of Ossie Davis' 1961 play. Directed by Kenny Leon, Purlie Victorious focuses on the traveling preacher Purlie Victorious Judson, who returns to his small Georgia town hoping to save the community's church and emancipate the cotton pickers who work on an oppressive plantation.

Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch played its final performance on February 4, 2024.

An Enemy of the People

Best Leading Actor in a Play - Jeremy Strong


Succession's Jeremy Strong and White Lotus' Michael Imperioli star in Amy Herzog’s adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s moral battle between a lone truth teller and a society desperate for self-preservation.

Jaja's African Hair Braiding

1 WIN:
Best Costume Design of a Play - Dede Ayite


Jocelyn's Bioh's dazzling play welcomes audiences into Jaja’s bustling hair braiding salon in Harlem, where love blossoms, dreams flourish and secrets are revealed.

Illinoise

The theatrical reimagining of Sufjan Stevens' Grammy and Oscar-nominated album Illinois arrives on Broadway, featuring new arrangements ranging in style from DIY folk and indie rock to marching band and ambient electronics.
