From Beau: Hey Joel-- I thought you did an amazing job in Wicked, and I absolutely love the show. My question is this: were you familiar with Gregory Maguire's novel before you were offered your role in Wicked?
Joel responds: No I was not--but really found it brilliant. Thanks.

From Jennifer: Hi, how are you? I think you are an awesome performer. I think you are wonderful in Wicked; it's my favorite musical. I'm actually listening to the CD right now. I also love you in Cabaret and watch the movie all the time. I was wondering what your favorite role has been--either in a musical or movie? Thanks and best of luck!
Joel responds: Thanks for the kind words. Cabaret was a fun role, but then so is Wicked!

From John Shuler: You are very memorable as the Emcee in Cabaret, what have you learned from that role that you still carry with you on stage today?
Joel responds: How satisfying it is to do theater that really has "something important to say."

From Bud Harte: Mr. Grey-- My wife and I saw Wicked on March 6. We were both struck by the beauty of the music, the strength of the performers, and the sheer energy of the performance. One scene in particular that struck both of us when discussing it later was the dance number during "Wonderful." Do you and Ms. Menzel really have as much fun doing that number each night as it seems? I hope so and want to thank you for the joy you exude on the stage.
Joel responds: Thanks for the kind words. And, yes, Idina and I love to do that number.

From Caitlin: I'm a big fan of your work and I was just wondering what theatre project has been the most exciting for you to be a part of?
Joel responds: The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer.

From WickedGeek: You're "wonderful" in Wicked. My question is what do you eat before a performance? You really made my night when you sang--you can lighten anyone's day.
Joel responds: I eat a light meal around 5pm. Thanks for the kind words.

From Jennifer Thomas: Hello Mr. Grey! I am a huge fan of yours; your involvement in theater has been so impacting. I also have a great deal of respect and awe for Bob Fosse and was wondering how it was working with him? Thanks.
Joel responds: Bob Fosse was a genius and our collaboration on Cabaret very satisfying.

From Jason in NE: Hi Joel, I saw you in Wicked in March and it was amazing. I got goosebumps when you came onto the stage. I have huge respect and admiration for you and your fellow artists. My question is, what is your best advice to someone wanting to work in show business?
Joel responds: Thanks for the kind words… My advice is to really NEED to be involved in the arts.

From Jonathan K: Do you have a better relationship with Idina or Kristin based on the performance time with each lady in Wicked?
Joel responds: Love 'em BOTH like crazy!

From Annaleigh: Hi Joel! You're a legend! Do you have any dream roles that you haven't gotten to play yet?
Joel responds: Maybe Shakespeare's "Shylock"…

From Chris Rice Edmund, OK: Hey Joel! I saw you a few weeks ago and you were amazing! Could you please share a funny story of something that's happened on or off the stage while you've done the show?
Joel responds: Nothing crazy comes to mind--but thanks for the kind words.

From CSD: Do you have any stories about your long friendship with Bernadette Peters? What has it been like to know her since George M?
Joel responds: Our friendship is one I treasure very much.

From Beckylynne: Joel, will you share a Liza story? Please?
Joel responds: There are so many, I wouldn't know where to start!

From Shira: Are you lying when you say you are 72? No 72-year-old man I know can do intricate footwork on a Broadway stage eight times a week! How do you feel about the term "Broadway Legend"? Do you feel as if this accurately describes you, having amassed an enviable amount of credits and awards to your now "legendary" name?
Joel responds: I was born on April 11, 1932. That makes 72. But I really don't deal with my self or my life by the numbers. I feel great--I love my life!
