Tony Award winner Alan Cumming will give eight performances of his solo musical show I Bought a Blue Car Today at London's Vaudeville Theatre September 1-6. Accompanied by musical director Lance Horne, Cumming earned raves for the show during a February run at Lincoln Center’s Rose Concert Hall and at the Sydney Opera House.
Named for a question asked during his test to become an American citizen, I Bought a Blue Car Today includes autobiographical anecdotes and Cumming’s favorite songs, which range from popular hits (“That’s Life”) to theatrical gems (“Mein Herr” from Cabaret, the show that earned Cumming a Best Actor Tony; “Where I Want to Be” from Chess; “What More Can I Say?” from Falsettos) and more.
Cumming has just been announced as a star of the forthcoming Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN: Turn Off the Dark in the role of the Green Goblin. In addition to Cabaret, he has appeared on Broadway in Threepenny Opera and Design for Living and off-Broadway in The Seagull. His many London stage credits include Bent and the title role in Hamlet.
Produced by Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer for Speckulation Entertainment, Alan Cumming: I Bought a Blue Car Today has musical direction by Lance Horne and sound design by James Tebb.
