Sebastian Arcelus will return to the role of Bob Gaudio in the Broadway cast of Jersey Boys. Arcelus, who was most recently seen in the Lincoln Theater Center production of Happiness, will replace Andrew Rannells on July 14 at the August Wilson Theatre.
Arcelus played Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys from December 2007 through January 2009. His other Broadway credits include Wicked (opposite his wife, Stephanie J. Block, with whom he also appeared on the show's first national tour), Rent and Good Vibrations. Other theater credits include The Full Monty, Caligula, Hamlet: A Rock Opera, Aida, Floyd Collins and the world premiere of William Finn's Songs of Innocence and Experience. Arcelus was also featured in Barbara Cook's Carnegie Hall concert and subsequent recording, No One is Alone. His voice can also be heard on numerous cartoons, most notably as the voice of Papi on Nickelodeon's Go, Diego, Go!
The true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Jersey Boys is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe. The show is currently playing in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, London, Toronto, Melbourne and in cities across the U.S. on a national tour.
Arcelus joins current Broadway cast members Matt Bogart (Nick Massi), Dominic Nolfi (Tommy DeVito) and Jarrod Spector (Frankie Valli) as the Four Seasons, with Peter Gregus and Mark Lotito. The cast also includes Miles Aubrey, Bridget Berger, Kris Coleman, Ken Dow, Heather Ferguson, Russell Fischer, John Hickman, Michelle Knight, Katie O’Toole, Joe Payne, Dominic Scaglione Jr., Sara Schmidt, Matthew Scott, Jake Speck and Taylor Sternberg.
