Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba has joined the Broadway producing team of Burn the Floor. The Latin and ballroom dance spectacular begin previews on July 25 and will open on August 2 at the Longacre Theatre, created, directed and choreographed by Jason Gilkison.
The cast of Burn the Floor includes 18 award-winning international dancers who collectively hold more than 100 dance titles: Henry Byalikov, Sharna Burgess, Kevin Clifton, Sasha Farber, Jeremy Garner, Gordana Grandosek, Patrick Helm, Sarah Hives, Melanie Hooper , Peta Murgatroyd, Giselle Peacock, Nuria Santalucia, Sarah Soriano, Damon & Rebecca Sugden, Damian Whitewood, Trent Whiddon, and Robin Windsor. Joining the company for the first three weeks will be special guest stars Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff of Dancing with the Stars. The dancers are supported by two vocalists, Ricky Rojas and Rebecca Tapia.
“After over 20 years of experience with many talented artists in television and film, I’m thrilled to get my feet wet on Broadway with this wonderful production,” Inaba said in a statement. The only American judge on Dancing with the Stars, she directed the first ever touring version of the hit show and has choreographed The TV Land Awards, The Kids Choice Awards, So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol, among others.
