MacIntyre Dixon will join the cast of off-Broadway's The Fantasticks, assuming the role of Henry. The actor begins performances at the Snapple Theater on August 17. Dixon replaces current cast member John Thomas Waite, who plays his final performance August 16.
Dixon most recently appeared on Broadway in Cyrano de Bergerac. Additional Broadway credits include Gypsy, The Crucible, Prelude to a Kiss, 1776, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Tempest, Beauty and the Beast and Three Penny Opera. Off-Broadway, he has been seen in Comic Potential, Arms and the Man, Room Service, Hamlet, Little Murders, The Tempest and Tom Foolery. Film credits include School of Rock, In & Out, A River Runs Through It, The Dream Team, Funny Farm, The Secret of My Success and Popeye.
The Fantasticks currently stars Lewis Cleale, Tom Flagg, Gene Jones, Addi McDaniel, Michael Nostrand, Evy Oritz, Richard Roland, Steve Routman, Jonathan Schwartz and Douglas Ullman Jr.
Featuring a book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, The Fantasticks is a romantic comedy about a boy and girl who fall in the love at the hands of their meddling fathers, only to be separated and forced to confront the harsh realities of the real world. The show played a record-breaking 17,162 performances in its original run at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village.
