Don Stephenson will answer the call of the Sunset Strip, joining Rock of Ages for a limited engagement beginning August 17 at the Brooks Atkinson Theater. Stephenson steps in as villainous real-estate developer Hertz, replacing original cast member Paul Schoeffler, who departs the production to join the Walnut Street Theatre’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Schoeffler returns to Rock of Ages October 26.
Stephenson last starred on Broadway as Leo Bloom in The Producers. Additional Broadway credits include Dracula, By Jeeves, Titanic, Private Lives, Parade, Wonderful Town and Pardon My English. Television credits include 3 lbs., Law & Order and Possible Side Effects.
Rock of Ages is set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip, where small town girl Sherri meets big city rocker Drew in L.A.’s most famous rock club. Their love story is told through the face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and many more.
Rock of Ages was written by Chris D’Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine. It currently stars Constantine Maroulis, James Carpinello, Savannah Wise, Adam Dannheisser, Mitchell Jarvis, Michele Mais, Lauren Molina, Wesley Taylor, Ericka Hunter, Jeremy Jordan, Michael Minarik, Angel Reed, Bahiyah Sayyed-Gaines, Katherine Tokarz, Andre Ward, Tad Wilson and Jeremy Woodard.
