Cast members of the new Broadway-laced FOX series Glee are hitting the road, with Cory Monteith, Broadway alum Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Broadway alum Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron and Mark Salling traveling the country as part of “The Gleek Tour.” The 10-stop publicity jaunt began August 17 in Boston at select Hot Topic stores. Glee, which aired its first episode in a sneak preview on May 19, premieres September 9 on FOX. A special director's cut of the pilot episode will air September 2.
“The Gleek Tour,” which gives fans the opportunity to meet the cast, nab autographs and catch a sneak peek of the new comedy, will proceed to New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis, Houston, Dallas, Denver and Washington D.C. before closing in Los Angeles on August 28.
Glee centers on a Spanish teacher (played by Tony Award nominee Matthew Morrison) who’s tapped to coach his high school’s lackluster glee club, with Michele as the group's star singer. Glee includes popular tunes performed onstage by the school choir. “The show’s debut episodes include the songs “Mister Cellophane” from Chicago, “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” from Guys and Dolls and “On My Own” from Les Miserables, as well as pop hits by Journey, Amy Winehouse and Katy Perry.
Glee is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
