The complete creative team has been announced for the forthcoming Broadway production of the new musical The Addams Family. After a pre-Broadway engagement at Chicago’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts beginning November 13, the show is scheduled to begin previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 4, 2010, and open on April 8, directed and designed by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch.
The Addams Family will feature lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Acme Sound Partners and puppetry by Obie Award-winning puppeteer Basil Twist. Music direction will be by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, orchestrations by Larry Hochman, dance arrangements by August Eriksmoen, hair design by Tom Watson, makeup design by Angelina Avallone, special effects design by Greg Meeh and fight direction by Rick Sordelet.
Starring two-time Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth as Gomez and Morticia, The Addams Family also features Terrence Mann as Mal Beineke, Carolee Carmello as Alice Beineke, Kevin Chamberlin as Uncle Fester, Jackie Hoffman as Grandmama, Zachary James as Lurch, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, Wesley Taylor as Lucas Beineke and Krysta Rodriguez as Wednesday.
In this original story based on the bizarre and beloved characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams, the famously macabre Addams family is put to the test when outsiders come to dinner, hurling Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Fester, Grandmama and Lurch headlong into a night that will change the family forever.
The Addams Family has a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Next to Normal, Jersey Boys). The show is being produced by Stuart Oken, Roy Furman, Michael Leavitt and Five Cent Productions, by special arrangement with Elephant Eye Theatrical.
