The producers and stars of Yasmina Reza’s Tony-winning God of Carnage will host a benefit for the Purple Rose Theatre of Chelsea, Michigan. The event for the non-profit theater founded by Carnage’s Jeff Daniels will take place on November 7.
The benefit includes preferred seating at the evening performance of the biting comedy at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre and an exclusive party afterward. The fete will take place Broadway’s famed Sardi’s, where stars Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden will mingle with attendees.
The benefit is limited to 50 guests. Tickets are $1,000 per person ($800 of this amount is eligible for a tax deduction). Contact the Purple Rose Theatre for additional information and tickets.
God of Carnage examines what happens when two sets of parents meet for dinner to deal with the aftermath of a schoolyard fight between their young sons. An evening that begins as a calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly devolves into comic mayhem.
The play, which is currently on hiatus, will resume performances at the Jacobs Theatre on September 8 and play through at least February 2010.
