The new musical Vanities by Jack Heifner with music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum completed its New York run on August 9 at Second Stage, but the show lives on! That’s because stars Lauren Kennedy, Anneliese van der Pol and Sarah Stiles hit New York’s Legacy Studios on August 21 to record the score for SH-K-Boom records. The musical (based on Heifner’s 1976 hit comedy) is about three cheerleading pals and their changing friendships over the course of four decades. The recording is bound to give the show a much longer life than its limited off-Broadway engagement. Here’s to a long life for Vanities!
