Broadway's Mary Poppins has welcomed London's two-time Olivier Award winner Jenny Galloway to the cast as Mrs. Brill. Galloway, an original cast member of the West End production of Mary Poppins, began performances on September 1 at the New Amsterdam Theatre.
Galloway won Olivier Awards for her performances as Rosie in Mamma Mia! in 2000 and Luce in The Boys from Syracuse in 1992. Her additional London credits include Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables, a role she later reprised on Broadway, as well as turns in My One and Only and Madame De Sade. She has also been seen in The Music Man, Oliver!, Sweeney Todd and the feature film About a Boy.
Tha ctress joins a cast that currently features Scarlett Strallen as Mary Poppins, Adam Fiorentino as Bert, Daniel Jenkins as Mr. Banks, Rebecca Luker as Mrs. Banks, Ann Arvia as Bird Woman, Mark Price as Robertson Ay, Ruth Gottschall as Miss Andrew and Jeff Steitzer as Admiral Boom. Juliette Allen Angelo, Alexandra Berro and Cassady Leonard alternate as Jane Banks; Jeremiah Kissane, Matthew Schechter and Andrew Shipman alternate as Michael Banks.
Based on P.L. Travers’s stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins had its world premiere in September 2004 at the Bristol Hippodrome in London, where it ran for more than three years before closing in January 2008.
