Carrie and Big got married (at last!) in the first Sex and the City film. Are Carrie's best gay friend Stanford Blatch and Charlotte's best gay friend Anthony Marentino (played by theater star Mario Cantone) the next pair to walk down the aisle? And, better yet, could Broadway legend Liza Minnelli be the entertainment for the big event?
According to celeb tabloid Life & Style, a scene in the sequel to the hit film, which is now shooting in and around New York City, will be set at a Connecticut inn and feature Sex and the City galpals Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Tony winner Cynthia Nixon) as well as Stanford (Willie Garson), Anthony and Stanford's parents. All signs, according to the magazine, point to a union for the two gay characters, who have had a love/hate relationship throughout the run of the HBO series that inspired the films.
Even better, the magazine reveals that Minnelli will make an appearance as well, providing the ultimate gay wedding entertainment.
Secrets of the script for Sex and the City 2, which started filming last week in Manhattan, are being heavily guarded. The movie is expected to hit theaters on May 25, 2010.
