Tom Lenk and Kerry Butler head to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to start performances in Rock of Ages. Butler will star as small-town girl Sherrie with Lenk taking on the role of flamboyant German real estate developer Franz.
Lenk has appeared on stage in Save Me from My Sister (Hudson Theatre), There’s Someone Living in the House That Jack Built and The Book of Liz (Hollywood’s 2nd Stage Theatre), Ann E. Wrecksick, Rock of Ages (Vanguard Hollywood), Bye Bye Birdie (Cabrillo Music Theatre), The Pajama Game (Reprise!) and in the European tour of Grease. In addition to his long stint as Andrew Wells on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, he has been seen on television’s Judging Amy, Popular, Angel, Six Feet Under, Joey, House M.D., How I Met Your Mother and Eli Stone. Lenk’s film credits include Window Theory, Bandwagon, Loretta, Date Movie, The Number 23 and Transformers.
Butler most recently starred on Broadway as Kira in Xanadu, landing her first Tony Award nod in the process. The actress has made her mark on Broadway playing such characters as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, the original Penny in Hairspray, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Eponine in Les Misérables and Ms. Jones in Blood Brothers. Off Broadway credits include Bat Boy: The Musical, Prodigal, Miracle Brothers and The Opposite of Sex. Regionally, she recently originated the role of Brenda in the world premiere of new musical Catch Me if You Can at Seattle’s Fifth Avenue Theater. TV appearance include Lipstick Jungle, Cupid, Second Honeymoon, Another World, Sesame Street, Hometown and One Life to Live.
