No category at the 2009 Emmys was more theater-heavy than Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, with stage vets Cherry Jones, Chandra Wilson, Hope Davis, Sandra Oh and Dianne Wiest up for the prize. (Rose Byrne rounded out the category.) Jones was clearly surprised to win for playing President Allison Taylor on 24, but the two-time Tony winner gave a gracious speech, including a shout-out to her pal “Hopie.” Special kudos to unseen announcer John Hodgman—as Jones took the stage, he noted that her first paying job as an actor was a production of Neil Simon’s The Good Doctor at the Barn Dinner Theater in Nashville. Take a look at our Ms. Jones’ big moment.
