Natalie Toro, Kyle Beltran, Rogelio Douglas Jr., Shaun Taylor-Corbett and more will be bringing Tony- winning In the Heights to a city near you starting October 27, when the previously announced national tour begins its trek at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Floridia.
New addition Beltran (Second Stage's 10 Things to Do Before I Die) will head the cast as narrator Usnavi, backed by Little Mermaid alum Douglas as Benny, Daniel Bolero as Kevin, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer as Vanessa, Arielle Jacobs as Nina, Jose-Luis Lopez as Graffiti Pete, Genny Lis Padilla as Carla, Isabel Santiago as Daniela, Elise Santora as Abuela Claudia, In the Heights Broadway alum Taylor-Corbett as Sonny and Tale of Two Cities star Natalie Toro as Camila. The cast is completed by Sandy Alvarez, David Baida, Christina Black, Natalie Caruncho, Oscar Cheda, Dewitt Cooper III, Daniel Cruz, Wilkie Ferguson, Kristina Fernandez, Rayanne Gonzales, Dominique Kelley, Rebecca Kritzer, Morgan Matayoshi, Joseph Morales, April Ortiz and Carlos Salazar.
Set in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, where a community struggles to uphold tradition in a time of change, In the Heights was conceived by Lin-Manuel Miaranda, the show's composer and original star, and features a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. It opened on Broadway on March 9, 2008, and features direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. The musical won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The show continues its Broadway run at the Richard Rogers Theatre.
The musical’s creative team includes music direction by Alex Lacamoire, music arrangements by Tony winners Lacamoire and Bill Sherman, scenic design by Anna Louizos, costumes by Paul Tazewell, lighting by Howell Binkley and sound by Acme Sound Partners.
