As first reported on Broadway.com, Lucy Prebble’s Enron will arrive on Broadway in April 2010, producers announced today.
Directed by Rupert Goold, Enron centers on Jeffrey Skilling (played by Samuel West in London), CFO of the Enron Corporation. The acclaimed multimedia show is a theatrical take on one of the most infamous scandals in financial history. Mixing classical tragedy with savage comedy, it reviews the tumultuous 1990s and casts new light on the financial situation we find ourselves in today.
Enron, which originated at the Chichester Festival in England, is currently enjoying a sold-out run at the Royal Court Theatre through November 7 and is expected to move to the West End's Apollo Theatre in the winter.
No casting has been announced for the Broadway run of Enron, which will be produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Matthew Byam Shaw, Act Productions, Caro Newling for Neal St. Productions and the Shubert Organization.
