Thomas Sadoski, Ron Cephas Jones and Michelle Beck Join Season Two of Sam Mendes' Bridge Project
Tony Award nominee Thomas Sadoski, Ron Cephas Jones and Michelle Beck will join the previously announced British/American cast of Academy Award winner Sam Mendes' second season of The Bridge Project. Season two will feature the pairing of Shakespeare's As You Like It, opening at BAM's Harvey Theatre in January 2010, and The Tempest, opening in February 2010. Both pieces, which will tour Asia and Europe before opening at The Old Vic in June 2010, will be helmed by Mendes.
As You Like It features previously announced stars Stephen Dillane as Jaques and Christian Camargo as Orlando. Jones joins the cast as Charles the Wrestler, Sadoski as Touchstone and Beck as Celia. Juliet Rylance replaces Anne-Marie Duff as Rosalind. The Tempest features Dillane as Prospero, Camargo as Ariel, Jones as Caliban, Rylance as Miranda, Sadoski as Stephano and Beck as Ceres.
Additional casting includes Asklie Atkinson (Phoebe/Juno), Jenni Barber (Audrey/Isis), Edward Bennett (Oliver/Ferdinand), Alvin Epstein (Adam/Gonzalo), Jonathan Fried (Le Beau/Alonso), Richard Hansell (Amiens/Sebastian), Aaron Krohn (Silvius/Adrian), Anthony O'Donnell (Corin/Trinculo), Michael Thomas (Duke Frederick and Senior/Antonio) and Ross Waiton (Boatswain, Francisco, First Lord).
Sadoski was last seen on Broadway in a Tony Award-nominated turn in 2009's Reasons to be Pretty. Additional credits include off-Broadway's Becky Shaw and Reasons to be Pretty and the Broadway revival of Reckless.
Jones' Broadway credits include August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean. Off-Broadway, he appeared in Jesus Hopped the A-Train.
Beck's stage credits include Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Twelfth Night and the film Spinning into Butter.
The Bridge Project is a three-year series of co-productions by BAM, the Old Vic and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions designed to present large-scale classical theater featuring a trans-Atlantic company of actors. Its successful first season paired Mendes’ productions of The Cherry Orchard and The Winter’s Tale. Actors participating in the initial season included Ethan Hawke, Josh Hamilton, Sinead Cusack and Rebecca Hall.
