Broadway cuties Mamie Gummer and Benjamin Walker are engaged, according to People.com. The former Les Liaisons Dangereuses co-stars confirmed that the 27-year-old actor proposed on October 18, presenting his 26-year-old fiancée with a ring he had made especially for her.
"He was the Keanu to my Uma," Gummer told People of their initial relationship when she played Cecile and he played Danceny in Roundabout’s April 2008 Broadway revival of Christopher Hampton’s play. "We were kind of pals first. It was a drawn-out thing." In addition to their stint on Broadway, the couple acted together in Will Frears’ upcoming feature film Coach.
Gummer, the daughter of Meryl Streep, has appeared off-Broadway in Uncle Vanya, Hunting and Gathering, The Water’s Edge and Mr. Marmalade and onscreen in Taking Woodstock, Evening and John Adams. Walker has appeared on Broadway in Inherit the Wind and on screen in Flags of Our Fathers and Kinsey.
Of course, Broadway.com recognized their talent very early on: Both Gummer and Walker have been been the subject of Fresh Face profiles!
