South Pacific star Kelli O’Hara will perform “God Bless America” at Game Six of the 2009 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. The performance will come during the seventh inning stretch on November 4 at Yankee Stadium.
O’Hara received Tony Award nominations for her last three critically acclaimed performances in The Light in the Piazza, The Pajama Game and South Pacific. Her other Broadway credits include Jekyll and Hyde, Sweet Smell of Success, Follies and Dracula, the Musical. Last year, she released her first solo CD, Wonder in the World, on Ghostlight Records. She returned to South Pacific in October following her maternity leave.
Mary J. Blige is scheduled to perform the national anthem at the start of Game Six. Television coverage of the fall classic will begin at 7:30pm (EST) on Fox.
