Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth, who is part of the latest cast of rotating stars in off-Broadway’s Love, Loss and What I Wore, will not begin performances on November 18 due to illness, a production spokesperson told Broadway.com. Previous cast member Katie Finneran will step in for the ailing Chenoweth, who is expected to take the stage at the Westside Theatre “in the next few days.”
In addition to Chenoweth, the new stars of Nora and Delia Ephron’s hit comedy are Lucy DeVito, Capathia Jenkins, Rhea Perlman and Rita Wilson. The latest cast will perform in the show about clothing and the memories they trigger through December 13.
Chenoweth was last seen on Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of The Apple Tree in 2006. She earned her second Tony nomination for originating the role of Glinda in the smash hit musical Wicked, having won the prize for 1999's revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She was also seen on Broadway in Steel Pier and Epic Proportions. She is set to return to Broadway this spring in Promises, Promises.
Finneran won a Tony Award for her performance in Noises Off. She also appeared on Broadway in Mauritius, Cabaret, The Iceman Cometh, Proposals, The Heiress, In the Summer House, My Favorite Year, Two Shakespearean Actors and On Borrowed Time. She was in the first cast of Love, Loss and What I Wore when it opened off-Broadway on October 1.
The show, directed by Karen Carpenter, has been extended into 2010.
