Dean-Charles Chapman is returning to the London production of Billy Elliot on November 23. The young performer, who has previously played the parts of Small Boy and Michael in the smash musical, will now take on the title role at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
Chapman, a 12-year-old Essex native, was a part of the original cast when he played Small Boy in 2005. He returned to the show in 2008 as Billy’s best friend Michael. He will alternate in the title role with Oliver Gardner, Tom Holland and Fox Jackson-Keen.
In addition to the boys playing Billy, the cast includes Joanna Riding as Mrs. Wilkinson, Joe Caffrey as Dad, Craig Gallivan as Tony, Ann Emery as Grandma, David Nellist as George, Sean Kingsley as Mr. Braithwaite, Samantha Seager as Dead Mum and Barnaby Meredith as Older Billy. They are joined by Connor Kelly, George Maycock and Jake Pratt, who will alternate the role of Michael and Emily Smith, Fleur Houdijk and Francesca Mango, who alternate the role of Debbie.
The smash-hit musical, which is also currently playing at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre, will celebrate its fifth birthday in the West End in March. Booking for the London production has been extended through December 2010.
