It’s rare indeed for a show to reopen at the same theater after closing, but Annie Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation has become “the little play that could” at Playwrights Horizons. The acclaimed comedy, which opened on October 13 and closed on November 21 after two extensions, will have a return engagement at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater beginning December 15, with tickets on sale through January 17, 2010.
The entire original company will reunite for the return engagement, including Reed Birney, Tony nominee Peter Friedman, Deirdre O’Connell, Tracee Chimo and Heidi Schreck. Sam Gold is the director.
Circle Mirror Transformation centers on four lost New Englanders enrolled in a community center drama class in Shirley, Vermont. As they experiment with harmless games, hearts are quietly torn and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won.
The production features scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Mark Barton and sound design by Leah Gelpe.
