The hit comedy Circle Mirror Transformation will extend for a fourth and final time at Playwrights Horizons. Annie Baker’s acclaimed play opened on October 13 and was extended twice, through November 21. After a hiatus, the play resumed performances on December 15 and was scheduled to close on January 17. The final extension will allow the show to run through January 31 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, directed by Sam Gold.
Circle Mirror Transformation stars Reed Birney, Peter Friedman, Deirdre O’Connell, Tracee Chimo and Heidi Schreck. The play centers on four lost New Englanders who enroll in a community center drama class in Vermont. As they experiment with harmless games, hearts are quietly torn and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won.
In addition to its excellent reviews, Circle Mirror Transformation won a place on the Top 10 list of The New York Times and Time Out New York, as well as the Best of Off-Broadway 2009 list in The New Yorker.
