Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Sami Gayle will complete the cast of MCC Theater’s forthcoming production of Beth Henley’s Family Week, joining previously announced stars Kathleen Chalfant and Rosemarie DeWitt. The play will begin performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on April 7, open on April 26 and run through May 23, directed by Jonathan Demme.
In Family Week, Claire (DeWitt) checks into a recovery center in the desert, searching for a way to cope with the death of her son. When her mother, daughter and sister arrive to participate in "family week," long-dormant traumas collide with recent tragedies in surprisingly comical, shocking and moving ways.
Bernstine appeared in the Broadway production of In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play and received an Obie and Clarence Derwent Award for her performance in Ruined. Other off-Broadway credits include Gone Missing, The Misanthrope, Chicken, A Small Melodramatic Story and Matt & Ben.
Gayle appeared on Broadway in Gypsy (Baby June) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas and off-Broadway in Oohrah!.
Family Week will follow MCC Theater’s production of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s The Pride (starring Hugh Dancy, Ben Whishaw, Andrea Riseborough and Adam James), which begins previews on January 27 and opens on February 16, directed by Joe Mantello.
