Andy Karl is Wicked's Next Fiyero Starting February 2

Andy Karl, last seen on the boards in 9 to 5, will join the cast of the Broadway hit Wicked as romantic hero Fiyero. He will start performances on February 2, 2010, with Kevin Kern playing his final performance as Fiyero on January 31.

Karl made his Broadway debut in Saturday Night Fever playing the role of Joey and covering the leading role of Tony Manero. He’s best known for playing homeboy Luke in the original cast of the off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz, UPS guy Kyle in Legally Blonde (opposite wife Orfeh) and Joe, Allison Janney’s office romance, in last season’s 9 to 5. Other New York credits include Broadway’s The Wedding Singer and off-Broadway runs in Saturday Night and Slut. Regional credits include Jekyll and Hyde, Grease, Romeo and Bernadette, Happy Days the Musical and national tours of Cats, Saturday Night Fever and On the Record. Karl is also a composer/lyricist studying at the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.

Wicked, which tells the untold story of The Wizard of Oz’s Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, also stars Dee Roscioli as Elphaba, Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Alex Brightman as Boq, Timothy Britten Parker as Doctor Dillamond and Jenny Fellner as Nessarose.
