Singing on the 100th episode of his hit TV show How I Met Your Mother may have inspired Neil Patrick Harris to sing on television again in the near future. The star is eyeing an appearance on the Golden Globe-winning Glee in May, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Harris, who hosted the Tony Awards in June 2009 and the Emmys in September 2009, has starred on Broadway in Cabaret, Proof and Assassins and regionally in Rent and Romeo and Juliet. He also played Tobias in concert stagings of Sweeney Todd in Los Angeles and New York.
The Glee gig would reunite Harris with Joss Whedon, who directed the Emmy-winning musical web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (in which Harris played the title role), and Zachary Woodlee, who choreographed the musical number in How I Met Your Mother.
EW says Glee creator Ryan Murphy is excited to have Harris on board and is creating a role especially for him. The magazine reports that a potential snag in the proceedings is that CBS must greenlight Harris’ appearance on the popular Fox series.
