In honor of Valentine’s Day, Broadway.com decided to ask some of the most romantic people we know—Broadway stars—to share their thoughts on the season of love, and the shows that make them swoon.
LAURA OSNES (Nellie Forbush in South Pacific)
What is the most romantic Broadway show of all time and why?
Besides South Pacific (hee-hee), I'd say The Light in the Piazza. I saw it twice and cried both times. First of all, it takes place in Italy, the most romantic country in the world, and I couldn't help but fall in love with the lush, sweeping score. The love between Fabrizio and Clara is one of the most compelling, passionate, and honest loves that I've seen on stage.
What advice would you give for having a super-romantic Valentine’s Day?
Dress up with your valentine, and do something special. It's one day to splurge on love! Roses, a candlelight dinner, chocolate fondue! But remember, the truly important thing is getting to spend quality time with that person you love.
