Eden Espinosa will return to the role of Elphaba in the open-ended engagement of Wicked at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre beginning March 2. Espinosa first played the green witch at the Orpheum in the summer of 2005, and she’ll be reunited there with former co-star Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda. Espinosa is also a veteran of the Broadway and Los Angeles companies of the smash-hit musical.
In addition to Kassebaum, the San Francisco cast of Wicked includes Jody Gelb as Madame Morrible, Tom McGowan as the Wizard, Nicolas Dromard as Fiyero, Paul Slade Smith as Doctor Dillamond, Deedee Magno Hall as Nessarose and Etai BenShlomo as Boq.
Espinosa recently performed the title role in Flora the Red Menace for Reprise! in Los Angeles and played Maureen in the closing company of Rent on Broadway. Her voice was featured in Magical, a new fireworks spectacular at Disneyland. On Broadway, she created the title character in Brooklyn the Musical. Her solo concert “Me” has been seen in Los Angeles at at Joe’s Pub, and she is currently working on her debut album.
Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, currently has eight productions across the globe: in New York, San Francisco, London, Germany, Japan, Australia and two concurrent North American national tours.
