Tickets are now available for the Broadway revival of Ken Ludwig’s hit farce Lend Me a Tenor. Anthony LaPaglia and Tony Shalhoub are set to star in this crowd-pleasing comedy, heading a cast that includes Justin Bartha, known to movie audiences as the groom-to-be in The Hangover. Performances begin at the Music Box Theatre on March 11, with opening night on April 4, directed by Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci.
Set in the 1930s, Lend Me a Tenor is a madcap screwball comedy that begins when Tito Merelli (LaPaglia), a fiery-tempered and world famous Italian superstar, arrives in Cleveland to make his debut with the local opera and promptly goes missing. As Saunders (Shalhoub), the show’s presenter, conspires to cover for Tito’s absence by tapping his hapless assistant Max (Bartha) to star in the opera, placate his hot-blooded wife and distract his most passionate fans, chaos on a truly operatic level ensues.
Joining LaPaglia, Shalhoub and Bartha in the cast are Jan Maxwell, Brooke Adams, Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Laura Thompson and Jay Klaitz. The production features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Martin Pakledinaz, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Peter Hylenski and musical supervision by David Loud.
Twenty years after its year-long Broadway debut run (a production that garnered seven Tony nominations) Lend Me a Tenor is back to delight a new generation of theatergoers.
