Opening night for the Public Theater's world premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks' The Book of Grace has been pushed back by one day, the company announced, citing scheduling conflicts. The show, which begins previews as scheduled on March 2 at the Public, will open on March 17 (rather than the previously announced March 16), directed by James Macdonald. The limited engagement will continue through April 4.
The Book of Grace stars Elizabeth Marvel, Amari Cheatom and John Doman. The play is described as a family portrait shattered by issues of rage, revenge, power and betrayal. The play centers on a young man's return home to South Texas to confront his father.
The drama is the latest from Parks, a Pulitzer Prize winner for Topdog/Underdog.
