Tickets are now available for the Broadway premiere of Green Day’s American Idiot. The rock musical, featuring songs from the Grammy Award-winning punk trio’s award-winning album of the same name, begins performances at the St. James Theatre on March 24. Opening night is set for April 20, directed by Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).
American Idiot follows the exhilarating journey of a new generation of young Americans as they struggle to find meaning in a post 9/11 world, borne along by Green Day’s electrifying score. This high-octane show includes every song from the acclaimed album American Idiot (including "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends"), as well as several songs from the band’s three-time Grammy-nominated new release, 21st Century Breakdown.
Featured in the cast of American Idiot is Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., Tony nominee Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Christina Sajous, Mary Faber and Tony Vincent. The cast also includes Declan Bennett, Andrew Call, Gerard Canonico, Miguel Cervantes, Joshua Henry, Van Hughes, Brian Charles Johnson, Joshua Kobak, Lorin Latarro, Omar Lopez-Cepero, Leslie McDonel, Chase Peacock, Theo Stockman, Ben Thompson, Alysha Umphress, Aspen Vincent and Libby Winters.
The production features choreography by Steven Hoggett, orchestrations by Tony winner Tom Kitt, scenic design by Tony nominee Christine Jones, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by two-time Tony winner Kevin Adams, sound design by Brian Ronan and video design by Darrel Maloney.
