Funny lady Jackie Hoffman, who is originating the role of Grandmama in the new Broadway musical The Addams Family, is Broadway.com’s newest backstage video blogger! In "The Addams Family Home Movies," the inimitable Hoffman will give fans a peek at life backstage at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where the creepy, kooky Addams clan has taken up residence. The first installment is set to premiere on March 11, 2010, and new videos will run every Monday.
Known for her hilarious comic work in such solo shows as If You Call This Living, The Kvetching Continues, Jackie Hoffman's Hanukkah, Jackie's Kosher Khristmas and more, Second City vet Hoffman made her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning smash Hairspray in 2002. She also made a memorable appearance in the spoof musical Xanadu on Broadway in 2007. He off-Broadway credits include an Obie Award-winning performance in The Book of Liz.
The Addams Family finds the famously macabre family put to the test when outsiders come to dinner. In addition to Hoffman, the musical stars Nathan Lane as Gomez, Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia, Krysta Rodriguez as Wednesday, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, Kevin Chamberlin as Fester and Zachary James as Lurch. Also featured in the cast are Carolee Carmello as Alice Beineke, Terrence Mann as Mal Beineke and Wesley Taylor as Lucas Beineke.
