The original cast recording of the new Broadway musical The Addams Family will be released by Decca Broadway in June.
The Addams Family, currently in previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, is based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams. It opens on April 8, 2010.
Starring two-time Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth as Gomez and Morticia, The Addams Family also stars Terrence Mann as Mal Beineke, Carolee Carmello as Alice Beineke, Kevin Chamberlin as Uncle Fester, Jackie Hoffman as Grandmama, Zachary James as Lurch, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, Wesley Taylor as Lucas Beineke and Krysta Rodriguez as Wednesday.
The musical features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, who will also be producing the cast album.
The Addams Family recording marks the launch of Decca Theatricals—this being its first major venture as a Broadway producer. Christopher Roberts, chairman of Decca Label Group, commented about the new venture in a statement, “Our new division, Decca Theatricals, is an exciting expansion of our operations. It now affords us the opportunity to become financial supporters and full time participants in theater and extend our creative expertise beyond just cast recordings.”
