A musical with a startlingly timely theme is headed off-Broadway: Tickets are now available for The Burnt Part Boys, co-produced by Playwrights Horizons and The Vineyard Theatre. Previews begin on April 30 at Playwrights Horizons, with opening night set for May 25, directed by Joe Calarco.
Set in West Virginia in 1962, The Burnt Part Boys follows a group of teenagers whose fathers were killed 10 years earlier in a tragic coal mining accident. When they learn that the mine will be reopened, they set out secretly in hopes of seeing the site and keeping it closed. The Burnt Part Boys features a book by Mariana Elder, lyrics by Nathan Tysen and a bluegrass and pop-inspired score by Chris Miller.
The cast of The Burnt Part Boys features Charlie Brady as Jake, Al Calderon as Pete, Noah Gavlin as Dusty, Andrew Durand as Chet and Molly Ranson as Frances. Also included in the cast are Michael Park, Randy Redd, Asa Somers and Steve French.
Hailed in developmental productions as "a rich theatrical experience," The Burnt Part Boys tackles a topic that remains as pressing today as 50 years ago. Get tickets now for one of the spring season's most anticipated theatrical events.
