The original cast recording of Sherie Rene Scott's upcoming Broadway musical Everyday Rapture will be available on iTunes beginning April 27, two days before the show is scheduled to open at Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre. Released by Ghostlight Records, the album will also be available in stores at a date TBA in June. Everyday Rapture begins previews on April 19, directed by Michael Mayer.
In addition to Scott, Everyday Rapture’s album features cast members Betsey Wolfe, Eamon Foley and Lindsay Mendez. Everyday Rapture is described as the story of a young woman’s psycho-sexual-spiritual journey on the rocky path that separates her mostly Mennonite past from her mostly Manhattan future. Her life takes her from the cornfields of Kansas to the clover fields of New York with a disturbing detour through YouTube. The show includes songs made famous by David Byrne, George Harrison, U2, The Dap Kings and Judy Garland.
The cast album features songs including “The Other Side of This Life (Overture),” “Got a Thing on My Mind,” “Elevation,” “Get Happy,” “I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City,” “Life Line,” “Why” and “Won’t You Be My Neighbor,” as well as the bonus tracks “Remember” and “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth).”
Everyday Rapture originally opened at Second Stage on May 3, 2009. The Broadway artistic team includes choreography by Michele Lynch, orchestrations by Tom Kitt, sets by Christine Jones, costumes by Tom Broecker, lights by Kevin Adams, sound by Brian Ronan and projections by Darrel Maloney.
