Current Addams Family star Bebe Neuwirth and Mad Men charmer Bryan Batt will co-host the 25th annual Lucille Lortel Awards. The ceremony, which honors outstanding achievements in off-Broadway theater, will be held on May 2 at New York’s Terminal 5.
This year, the Lortel Awards reception will include performances by Tony Award winner LaChanze (who’ll belt out “Waiting for Life” from her breakout show, Once on This Island) and Seth Rudetsky, as well as appearances by celebrity presenters to be announced.
Tony and Emmy Award winner Neuwirth’s numerous Broadway credits include Chicago, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Dancin’, Little Me and A Chorus Line. Off Broadway, she has been seen in Everett Beekin, Here Lies Jenny, Ashley Montana and Writer’s Block. She starred on London’s West End in Kiss of the Spider Woman. Screen credits include an Emmy Award winning turn on Cheers, as well as Wild Palms, Law & Order: Trial by Jury and Bored to Death.
Batt has appeared on Broadway in Cats, Starlight Express, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Boulevard, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Saturday Night Fever, Seussical and the 2004 revival of La Cage aux Folles.
