The cast of Come Fly Away will join Broadway and cabaret stars for the New York Pops’ 27th birthday concert and gala on May 3 at Carnegie Hall. Dubbed “The Best Is Yet to Come: Celebrating the Legacy of Frank Sinatra,” the concert will include a performance of “One for My Baby” from the current Broadway musical, with choreography by Twyla Tharp.
Also headed to Carnegie Hall are Sondheim on Sondheim star Norm Lewis (“Don’t Worry About Me”), Memphis star Montego Glover (“The Best Is Yet to Come”), All About Me vet Michael Feinstein (“For Once in My Life”), Finian’s Rainbow vet Cheyenne Jackson (“Luck Be a Lady”), In the Next Room vet Michael Cerveris (“High Hopes”), cabaret star John Pizzarelli (“Witchcraft”), and theater vets John Tartaglia, Michael Urie and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“New York, New York” from On the Town).
The concert will be hosted by columnist Liz Smith, and features special guest Frank Sinatra, Jr. Proceeds from the gala support the New York Pops and its free education programs.
