The Addams Family will hit the road in 2011. Based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams, the new musical will begin a national tour in September 2011 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The national tour of The Addams Family will be the first Broadway musical to take advantage of the incentive programs offered by Louisiana Entertainment, the state's comprehensive entertainment industry development office.
The creepy, kooky tuner features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. The production is directed and designed (sets and costumes) by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch, with creative consultation by Jerry Zaks and choreography by Sergio Trujillo. Lighting design is by Natasha Katz, sound design by Acme Sound Partners and puppetry by Basil Twist.
The Addams Family finds the famously macabre family put to the test when outsiders come to dinner, hurling Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Fester, Grandmama and Lurch headlong into a night that will change the family forever.
A complete tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
