The morning the Tony nominations are announced, phones start ringing off the hook for the happy few who get nods. As usual, Broadway.com is among the callers offering congratulations and getting responses. Here are the first reactions from 2010 Tony nominees. Congrats to all!
Alfred Molina
Nominated for Best Actor in a Play, Red
“I’m obviously absolutely delighted, particularly in the light of both myself and Eddie [co-star Eddie Redmayne] getting a nomination—and the rest of the creative team. It’s a real treat! It has the most nominations for any new play this season, which in itself is cause for excitement. My [Tony] category is such a fantastic group of people to be included in, and I’m deeply honored to be there amongst them. The fact that the community has taken this play so clearly to its heart and with such support and enthusiasm is immensely gratifying. I’m looking forward to a wonderful evening [on Tony night] and a great party—and some free food, which is never a bad thing. I’m just immensely thrilled and excited!”
