The morning the Tony nominations are announced, phones start ringing off the hook for the happy few who get nods. As usual, Broadway.com is among the callers offering congratulations and getting responses. Here are the first reactions from 2010 Tony nominees. Congrats to all!
Kevin Chamberlin
Nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, The Addams Family
“It’s been an overwhelming day. I was just walking down Eighth Avenue in tears, getting emails from people that I haven’t heard from in years. That’s the best part of this day. I’ve been through it twice before: this is my trifecta! It’s always surprising who you hear from—lots of wonderful friends and colleagues that write and call and text to wish you well. News travels fast! I’ve been away for a long time; I haven’t done a new musical in 10 years, so it’s a whole different animal now. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster and a wild two-year ride. This is a culmination of two years work since we started this show with workshops. It’s really exciting. We all wish we could have gotten more nominations. Luckily, we’re a big hit with audiences. I am trying to dwell on what is rather than what could have been.”
