With the announcement of the 2010 Tony nominations, we at Broadway.com wondered which omission bothered fans the most. Well, you vented with your vote in our Weekend Poll—and fans of John Gallagher Jr. had their say, putting American Idiot’s self-proclaimed “Jesus of Suburbia” at the top, with 20% of the votes.
Cheyenne Jackson (also overlooked for Best Actor in a Musical) might not have a “Great ‘Come-and-Get-It’ Day” come Tony night, but the star of Best Revival nominee Finian’s Rainbow came in second place with 16% of the votes. And while The Addams Family didn’t make the Tony cut for Best Musical, the kooky clan still has something to snap, snap about…the show picked up the third highest amount of votes with 15%.
Promises, Promises star Kristin Chenoweth proved she’s still popular by earning 12% of votes for fourth place. Rounding out the top five was another American Idiot snub, show’s director Michael Mayer, who scored 11% of votes. Below are the full results.
