Additional casting has been set for the forthcoming Broadway production of Eric Simonson's Lombardi, based on the life of famed football coach Vince Lombardi. Judith Light, Keith Nobbs, Bill Dawes, Robert Christopher Riley and Chris Sullivan join previously announced star Dan Lauria in the Thomas Kail-helmed stage biography. The show begins performances at Circle in the Square on September 23, with an official opening night set for October 21.
Light joins the cast as wife Marie Lombardi, while Nobbs appears as Michael McCormick, Dawes as Paul Hornung, Riley as Dave Robinson and Sullivan as Jim Taylor. Simonson’s script is based on the best-selling biography When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi by Pulitzer Prize winner David Maraniss, which chronicles the icon's journey from Brooklyn boy to master gridiron strategiest. Lombardi most notably was the coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1959-1967, leading that team to five league championships.
