Film star Christina Ricci has signed on to make her Broadway debut in Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still when the Tony-nominated play resumes performances on September 23 at a Shubert theater to be announced. Ricci will replace Alicia Silverstone in a cast that includes original stars Laura Linney, Brian d’Arcy James and Eric Bogosian. Daniel Sullivan returns as director.
Time Stands Still centers on Sarah and James (Tony nominee Linney and James), a photographer and a journalist who have been together for years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war. But when circumstances compel them to return home to New York and their circle of friends (including a couple played by Bogosian and Ricci) the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life.
Ricci’s many film credits include The Addams Family, Casper, Mermaids, Now and Then, Sleepy Hollow, Monster, The Ice Storm and Speed Racer. She received a Golden Globe nomination The Opposite of Sex and an Emmy nomination for her guest-starring role in Grey’s Anatomy.
Time Stands Still originally opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on January 28. The play's return engagement will be produced by Manhattan Theatre Club Productions, Nelle Nugent Bud Martin Ted Snowdon and Wendy Federman.
