Just as you were recovering from Liza Minnelli's contemporary comeback with Beyonce's "Single Ladies" (and if you haven't heard the clip yet, what are you waiting for?) we dug up this little hunk of retro Tony Awards gold from 1993. In cast you forgot, that was the year Liza with a Z hosted the big night, guaranteeing a night full of black-on-black layered fabrics, leg-baring clip intros and at least one truly epic production number featuring the lady herself. As seen here, the ceremony kicked off with Barry Bostwick and one of the cheesier original opening numbers in recent memory ("If These Boards Could Only Speak?" Really?), but fortunately Liza May (herself a three-time Tony winner) is there to save the day with a grand entrance around the 2:40 minute mark. This one's got it all: sequins, jazz hands, one-hand cartwheels...even a Liza vs. Bill Irwin clown-around. "Celebrate Broadway?" Don't mind if we do.
