The new musical revue Sondheim on Sondheim will be preserved in an original Broadway cast recording. The cast of Roundabout Theatre Company's current production will record the show on June 6 and 7 in anticipation of a PS Classics release at a date to be announced. The two-disc set is available for pre-order beginning June 2. Now playing at Studio 54, Sondheim on Sondheim recently announced a two-week extension through June 27.
A semi-biographical revue of the life and work of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning lyricist and composer Stephen Sondheim, Sondheim on Sondheim stars Tony Award winner Barbara Cook, as well as Vanessa Williams, Tom Wopat, Euan Mortan, Norm Lewis, Leslie Kritzer, Erin Mackey and Matthew Scott.
The cast recording set will be produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker, whose numerous credits include the recent revival of A Little Night Music and nearly two dozen other Sondheim-related releases.
