Broadway vets Bryce Ryness (Hair) and Donna Lynne Champlin (Billy Elliot, Sweeney Todd) are among the cast set for the Transport Group’s New York premiere of See R ock City & Other Destinations. The new musical will begin performances at The Duke Theatre on July 17, with an opening night set for July 25, directed by the company's artistic director Jack Cummings III.
Ryness and Champlin will be joined by Stanley Bahorek (Big River, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Jonathan Hammond (Ragtime, The Boys in the Band), Ryan Hilliard (Grey Gardens) and Sally Wilfert (Assassins, Make Me a Song).
Featuring a contemporary pop-rock score by Brad Alexander and and book and lyrics by Adam Mathias, See Rock City & Other Destinations presents stories of road-trippers headed to some of America’s best known tourist destinations including Roswell, NM; the Alamo; Glacier Bay; Niagara Falls and Coney Island. Winner of the 2008 Richard Rodgers Award, the musical received its world premiere at the Barrington Stage Company in 2008.
Set and costume design is by Dane Laffrey with lighting design by R. Lee Kennedy.
