Greetings, Green Day! The Rockers Make the Scene at Their First Tonys

Walking the Tony red carpet together, rock royalty Green Day—otherwise known as Mike Dirnt, Billie Joe Armstrong and Tre Cool—took time to savor every minute of American Idiot’s big night. Though they joked that they’d be setting the stage of Radio City on fire during their on-stage appearance (they were speaking metaphorically!), the threesome spoke sincerely of their excitement at hearing their modern classic album performed on a Broadway stage. As for the Tony ball, “We hear there are lots of bars.” Armstrong said with a grin.
