Broadway vets Kate Baldwin and Lewis Cleale will star in Westport Country Playhouse’s forthcoming revival of the 1966 musical I Do! I Do! Written by the Fantasticks team of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the show will run August 10-28, directed by Susan H. Schulman.
Based on Jan de Hartog’s play The Fourposter, I Do! I Do! traces the 50-year marriage of Agnes and Michael and is set in their bedroom, which features a fourposter bed. The show opened on December 5, 1966, at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rodgers), starring Mary Martin and Robert Preston, and ran for 560 performances.
Baldwin received a 2010 Best Actress Tony nomination for Finian's Rainbow and has appeared on Broadway in Wonderful Town, Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Full Monty.
Cleale’s Broadway credits include Spamalot, Amour, Once Upon a Mattress and Swinging on a Star. At Westport, he starred Hot ‘n Cole.
